Who is The Anxiety Community?
The Anxiety Community is a dynamic and developing website dedicated to people with anxiety disorders. It is run and maintained by private individuals, not professionals, and is not affiliated with any organization, agency or firm. For more information, please read the terms of use.



 Directory
How can I add a link to the directory of links?
Go to the directory of links page and scroll down to the lower bar at the bottom of the page. In the bar, click on the link that reads "add a link" and fill out the requested information. Anyone can add a link freely, but make sure to choose the correct category, or it might be removed.

How can I add a category to the directory?
In order to prevent abuse, only editors may add categories automatically. If you want to suggest a new category, email the directory editor with your suggestion.

How do I post a new message/topic?
Click on the "Post New Message" link, located above the list of threads. A form will appear on a new page. Enter your name (mandatory), email, subject (mandatory) and message, and click on the post button below. Note that this should not be the way to reply to an existing message.

Must I be a registered member to post messages?
No. But only members of the anxiety community site, when they are logged in, can be assured that no one is using their user names.

I posted a new message but it does not show up. What's wrong?
If you can't find your message where it should be, please email the webmaster.

I accidentally posted an empty/duplicated/unsuitable message. How can I have it deleted?
You need to email the webmaster.

What is the "Notify me by email when someone replies" option?
If you specify a valid email address and check this option, an automatic notification email will be sent to you every time someone replies to your post.

In the options menu, what is the "Full text" option?
The "Full text" option will cause the full text of topics to be displayed on the main forum page. It is useful when one wants to view several topics on the same page and/or to search for a keyword. Use the "defaults" option, also located in the options menu, to return to normal viewing mode.

What does a "[nt]" extension to a message mean?
The [nt] extension means that the message's body is empty (no text). This is usually the case when someone uses the subject to convey a short message, and leaves the body empty. There is no point in clicking on such a message unless you want to reply.

Can I search the forum?
Yes. You can search for posts based on words in the subject or in the body of the message. You can enter up to 5 keywords in the search box located in the upper right side of the forum’s main page. The search result will consist of posts in which all keywords entered occur, either in the subject or in the body of the message. You can also search the archive of the forum, in a similar way.

Is it possible to edit a post after it was sent?
Yes. Logged in members may edit their messages, within a time frame of one hour after posting. To do this, click on the "[Edit]" link beside each editable message.

Can I be a member of this website?
Sure. Anyone who is not already a member, can join the community, even if they don't suffer from an anxiety disorder.

How do I become a member?
Simply go to the joining form and fill out some details. Your entry will be inserted to the members' list and to the website's database automatically.

Why should I become a member?
Being a member enables you to appear on our members' list, post articles and news, and use some services and features more easily than other users.

How do I remove my account?
To remove your member's account from this site, use this form. Your details will be deleted and your entry will be removed from the members' list. If you specifically want to remove a message that you posted or any other input sent by you to this site, email the webmaster.

How do I edit my details?
Go to your member's info page. Under your details, there is a link that reads "I want to edit my page". Click on it. A menu with directions will open. If you would like to change your user name or password, email the webmaster.

Is it safe to provide my email address to the site?
It is recommended that you enter your email address only once, when you join the site. You may then choose to hide your email address in your member's info page, or to disclose it only to members of the site (this option is the default one). If you avoid entering your email address elsewhere in the site, it will be relatively protected from web-crawlers and spammers.

Does this site have a search engine?
Not yet. In development is a search engine for all the site's content. Meanwhile, you are encouraged to use Google with the additional "site:anxietyhelp.org" directive.

How can I add an article?
A member of the community can add articles, according to the rules specified in the articles section.
