Music is widely known to contribute to relaxation and calming of mind. The reason for that is twofold. First, music positively affects many different parts of the brain. Second, it provides relative distraction from pestering or negative thoughts. Music therapists recommend selecting a gentle piece and playing the music at low volume. A whole genre of relaxation albums are designed for this cause. Place yourself in a comfortable position, close your eyes, focus on your breathing, and listen. Music can also be combined with other types of relaxation.
